He passed away in Pietermaritzburg in July 2016.

Among the plays that he wrote is Pity! Maritzburg.

His play Pity! Maritzburg was nominated for a Vita Award (National) in 1991.
He won a Lifetime Achievement Award for his work as a journalist in 2009.
