Inaugurated with Guy Butler's Take root or die and Mozart's The marriage of Figaro in 1966. It consists of two performance spaces (plus the Rhodes Drama Department and Rhodes Department of Journalism offices). Although primarily used for Drama Department productions and student examinations, the complex also hosts workshops and performances by visiting national and international artists, and is an important venue during the Grahamstown Festival.
