Arthur Rousbey Opera Company
Arthur Rousbey Opera Company run by the actors and singers Arthur Rousbey and Mrs Rousbey
The company was a company brought to South Africa by the actor-managers Frank de Jongh and Herbert Flemming to perform in the Cape Town's Opera House in 1899.
Their repertoire included a number of standard operas , e.g. Faust (Gounod), Tannhäuser (Wagner), Cavelleria Rusticana (Mascagni), I Pagliacci (Leoncavallo), and Il Trovatore (Verdi), as well as other musical dramas, such as Carmen (Bizet), Maritana (Wallace and Fitzball), The Daughter of the Regiment (an opéra comique by Donizetti).
