Behind the Yellow Door is a play by Flora Stohr. A play dealing with the lives of a coloured family set in Athlone, Cape Town giving insight into this particular social group’s endeavors.

Adapted by Cedric-John Adamson to a musical play in three acts.

Performance history in South Africa

1963: First performed on 21 September at the Little Theatre directed by Robert Möhr and performed by the EOAN Group under guidance of Helen Southern Holt. It was subsequently staged at in Shreveport, Louisiana in the United States in 1966, again directed by Robert Mohr.

1986: The debut of the musical version by the EOAN Group was at the Nico Malan Theatre on 18 January 1986. It was produced and designed by Cedric-John Adamson. Choreography was by Henry Paulse, assisted by Elizabeth Howard. Musical direction was by Cecil Peters.
