The Maid and the Magpie, or The Fatal Spoon! is a burlesque burletta [in verse] by Henry James Byron ()[].

Also referred to as The Maid and The Magpie Travestie in the text.

The original text

Founded on the opera La Gazza Ladra by G. M.S.C. Gherardini ()[], it was first performed at the Strand Theatre on 11 October, 1858. The text published by Thomas Hailes Lacy , 1859.
