J.C. Howard

J.C. Howard (19**-19**) was a Naval officer and stage performer.

Biography

He arrived in Cape Town as an officer aboard the American sloop Sacramento (1867).

Contribution to SA theatre, film, media and/or performance

He took a leading role in the play Aurora Floyd (based on the novel by Mary Elizabeth Braddon), performed by the Le Roy and Duret Company in the Theatre Royal, Cape Town on 4 April, 1867 under the patronage and presence of Captain Collins and the officers from the sloop. (On request he repeated the role on 12 April, the performance now "under the patronage of the Stewards of the Races").
