The Platteland Preview is an annual arts festival founded in and 2013, and takes place in the small town of Smithfield, half way between Gauteng and Grahamstown, on the last weekend of June.

Most performers at the festival are travelling to Grahamstown to take part in the National Arts Festival, and stop over in Smithfield for a final technical rehearsal. The festival organisers offer performers free accommodation, publicity, venues, lights and sound - as well as a share in the door takings, to encourage them to undertake this.
