(18**-19**) Teacher and composer who in 1897 composed the song Nkosi Sikelele iAfrika, which became a freedom song throughout the struggle years, and finally became part of the national anthem of the post-Apartheid South Africa. It became almost a fixture of "protest" plays of the 1970-1990s.
