The Farce of A Fast Train! High Pressure!! Express!!! is a farce in one act attributed to J.M. Maddox (John Medex Maddox, also known as John Medex, 1789-1861)[1]

The title appears in a variety of guises, depending on the number of exclamation marks.

First performed at the Lyceum theatre in London, April 1853 and published in London, 1853.

Michael Dobson (2011: p. 81) mentions a comedy with the cumbersome title The Farce of A Fast Train! High Pressure!! Express!!!, also anonymous, performed by the Ingoldsby Club, London, in 1861.

Performance history in South Africa

1855: Performed as A Fast Train (by an anonymous author) by the Amateur Theatrical Society Port Elizabeth in the new Port Elizabeth Theatre (The Lyceum) in August, with The Rivals (Sheridan).
