Die Vleiroos (“The Marsh Rose”) is a play by Pieter-Dirk Uys in Afrikaans about a woman's struggle to protect an unspoilt environment against development.

Performance history in South Africa

Presented by KRUIK in collaboration with P.D. Uys Produksies and the National Arts Festival in 1992. The World première was on 9 June 1992 at the Nico Arena starring Chris van Niekerk (Ferdinand Barnard), Joey de Koker (Nedda Barnard), Theresa Cloete (Lizzie Smith) and Lynne Maree (Sofie Clarens). Direction was by Pieter-Dirk Uys, design by Nicholas de Klerk, lighting by Malcolm Hurrell.

Performed in the Pieter Roos Theatre, Johannesburg Civic Theatre Complex in 1995, directed by Lynne Maree, starring Trix Pienaar (Nedda Barnard), André Stolz (Ferdinand Barnard), June van Merch (Lizzie Smith), Anna-Mart van der Merwe (Sofie Clarens).
