Le Paysan, Soldat Malgré Lui is the title of a one-act play performed in Cape Town on 12 August 1805 by the French Amateur Company, with Monsieur Delémery in the lead.
The text is uknown, but François Parfaict and Claude Parfaict (Dictionnaire des Théâtres de Paris: 1756[1]) do mention a one-act verse play called Le Soldat Poltron, also known as Soldat Malgré Lui, ou l'Epreuve Amoreuse by an anonymous author. (Bosman, 1928: p 91 suggests either Rosigmond or Chevalier). This was quite probably an adaptation of that early work.
