Jamal Syndrome is an immensely popular stage comedy by Essop Khan and Mohamed Ali.
Originally performed in 1987, the play looks at the resulting chaos when the son of a traditional Indian family arrives home with his bride, a young white woman.
In 2008 they did an updated version of the play, starring Essop Khan, Mohamed Ali, Savi Ramsay, Teakshania Chetty and Katinga Busarello. Still set in the apartheid era when inter-racial marriages were prohibited, but now revamped to keep its appeal to all audiences.
