1961: Staged in English by the NTO in the Alexander Theatre, directed by Victor Melleney, André Huguenet (The Prisoner), Arthur Hall (The Interrogator), Joe Stewardson (The Cell Warder), Danie Marais (A Secretary),
Produced in English by NTO in 1961 under the direction of * and toured the country. It was to be André Huguenet's triumphant last lead role, playing the Cardinal. He committed suicde shortly after the run had ended. The next year NTO was closed down and replaced by the four Performing Arts Councils.
