The original text

A play about Emily Hobhouse and the horrors of the British army's scorched earth policy and the concentration camps they introduced, in which now homeless Boer women and children were incarcerated and thousands died.

Performance history in South Africa

2013: First produced by Tony Jackman, directed by Christopher Weare and performed by Lynita Crofford. It played at the National Arts Festival (where it won the Standard Bank Ovation Award for 2013), in Johan­nes­burg and at the Clover Aard­klop festival in Potchefstroom.

2014: Performed at the Alexander Theatre Upstairs in Cape Town
