David Alcock
(19*-) Actor. Trained at the University of Cape Town(?*). ** Among the awards he has won are the Fleur du Cap Theatre Award as Best Supporting Actor for Greek (1986), A Midsummer Night's Dream (1995), * Involved with amateur theatre, playing roles like Algernon in The Importance of Being Earnest and Judge Danforth in The Crucible. Apart from directing, he also taught speech, stage management, movement, costume and design.
Maynardville productions: Measure for Measure; Twelfth Night, and Love's Labour's Lost.
Memorable productions in Cape Town: Going Under; Falstaff; Cock-Ups for CAPAB and Greek (for which he won the Fleur du Cap and VITA awards, Kvetch; Masterclass; Glen Gary Glen Ross; The Boys Next Door for the Baxter.
Was visiting lecturer and director (Equus, Edward II, Bent and A Madhouse in Goa at the Rhodes University drama department.
