(Richard Horatio). (1875-1932) Journalist, editor, poet, novelist and playwright. *** Came to South Africa as a member of the British Medical Corps in Simonstown. Then became a journalist for Reuters and became the first editor of the Rand Daily Mail (1902-3). He also wrote a play about Rhodes, called ***, which was put on by ** and failed miserably. Wrote the first scenario for the film King Kong. Later became world famous for his detective stories.
