Water Tables is a play in four scenes by Marcelle Olivier ()

An initial version also bears the alternative title of Vrystaat Gothic. ('Not to be confused with the English collection called African Gothic by Reza de Wet.)

The original text

A set in 1990 the play in four scenes is about family relationships, a struggling farm, receding water tables and an unscrupulous mining company.

Written as an exercise for a playwriting course at the Stellenbosch Drama Department. A handwritten note in the typed text identifies it as the "first final draft" used for a playreading during the course.
