1977: Presented by Joan Brickhill and Louis Burke at His Majesty's Theatre starring Marilyn Binder (Frenchy), Leonie Hofmeyr (Sandy), Christine le Brocq (Miss Lynch), Diana Cox (Patty), Danny Keogh (Sonny), Sharon Lynne (Marty), Richard Cox (Kenickie), Sue Kiel (Betty Rizzo), Roz Monat (Jan), Nigel Daly (Eugene), Richard Knibbs (Vince), Herman Jay Muller, (Roger), Eckard Rabe (Danny Zuko), Jonathan Taylor (Doody), Gereldine van Vianen (Cha-Cha di Gregorio) and Bruce Millar (as Johnny Casino/Teen Angel). Musical direction by Josh Sklair, vocal direction by Irene Frangs. Choreography by Carlo Spetto and Joan Brickhill. The production ran until June the following year.
1991: Staged by PACOFS Opera in the Sand du Plessis Theatre, directed and choreographed by David Matheson, musical direction by Noel Stockton, with Paul Buckby (Danny Zuko), Lana Green (Sandy), Gaby Lomberg (Betty Rizzo), Bart Fouche (Kenickie), Rory Rootenberg (Doody), Adrian Galley (Sonny LaTierri), Luciano Zuppa (Roger "Putzie"), Michelle Simpson (Frenchy), Dorit Rothschild (Jan), Illse Roos (Marty Maraschino) and others. Sets by Gerhard van den Berg, costumes by James Parker and lightiong by Martin Pelser.
1993: Staged by the Port Elizabeth Gilbert & Sullivan Society.
1998: Presented at the Nico Malan Theatre, directed by David Matheson, musical direction by Stefan Lombard, choreography by Sharon Friedman, lighting design by Malcolm Hurrell, sound design by Robin Shuttleworth, with Warren Kimmel as Danny Zuko.
2006: Barnyard Theatre, directed by Ian von Memerty.
