Hermit Theatre
The Hermit Theatre was a supper theatre venue in Durban founded by Deon van Zyl in 1978.
Situated in the Hermit Vegetarian Restaurant, a tiny little eatery in Hermitage Street off the Esplanade, which opened with Puny Little Life directed by Clive Rodel, with Deon van Zyl and Paul Spence. Garth Anderson also presented numerous productions at this popular venue.
Plays performed there include a triple bill of one-act plays by Muthal Naidoo, entitled Three for Tea (19**), Lysistrata (adapted and directed by Clive Rodel, June to July 1980).
