The Skin of Our Teeth is a play by Thornton Wilder (1897-1975) [1].
The original text
It is the story of Mr and Mrs Antrobus and Lily Sabina, the maid, which seeks to put the entire history of mankind into a single dramatic framework.
First performed in New York in 1943. Published by Longmans, 1958.
Performance history in South Africa
1946: Presented by the Speech-Training Department of the University of Cape Town, produced by Rosalie van der Gucht in the Little Theatre, 1946. With Oswald van Blerk, Joyce Grant, Sybil Dee, Michael Marais, Hazel Casson, Ilse Hilsenrath. Animals by A.J.H. Goodwin.
1963: Presented by the University of Cape Town Speech and Drama Department at the Little Theatre from 16 to 23 March, produced by Mavis Taylor.
1969: Produced pupils of Eunice Girls High School , Bloemfontein, directed by Maureen Viljoen, with Otto Bohlmann as "Henry".
