La fille du régiment[1] ("The Daughter of the Regiment") by Gaetano Donizetti (1797-1848)[2], a two act opéra comique[3].
Another play sometimes performed under the title The Daughter of the Regiment is
Josephine, the Child of the Regiment, or The Fortune of War, a musical comedy by John Baldwin Buckstone (1802-1879)[4], partly based on the Donizetti opera.
