Hendrik Momberg

(18*-19*) Actor. Grew up in Graaff-Reinet, where he became one of Pieter Pohl's actors and in many ways acting as Pohl's adjudant in the Graaff-Reinetse Dramatische Vereniging. In 1909 Momberg and Pohl joined the English-language Graaff-Reinet Amateur Dramatic and Musical Society till its split along language lines in 1915. In 1916, Momberg joined Pohl again to found the Graaff-Reinetse Letterkundige en Toneel Vereniging, directing and acting for it till its demise in 1926, though in 1927 he still produced Lugkastele under its name. From 1928 onwards until 1934 he served as resident director for the Graaff-Reinet Educational Training College, doing plays such as Die Laaste van die Takhare (Langenhoven, 1928), Van Riet van Rietforntein (**, 1928 - which they toured widely, visiting places such as Aberdeen, Steytlerville and Pearston.), Die Drie van der Walts (***, 1932), Die Nuwe Onderwyseres (***, 1935), Die Vloek (***, 1939), Die Heks (Leipold, 19**), etc.
