Township Boy is a musical play created circa 1987 by John Ledwaba and Christo Leach.

The original text

The play is about a poet from Soweto who got killed in the Soweto revolt in 1976.

Performance history in South Africa

Presented at the Market Theatre and at the Baxter Theatre 1988/9 starring, among others, John Morapama.

Taken on tour to Europe by the Mamu Players, visiting the University of Frankfort/Main in November 1989.
