De Zwarte Kapitein ("The black captain") is a one act comedy by Leonard (fl. 1870s).

Written for the Rederijkers and published by Schuitemaker in Purmerende, 1875.
Probably an adaptation of De Zwarte Kapitein, a four act opera by Rosier Faassen (Pieter Jacobus Faassen, librettist), Gustave François Lagye (1843-1908, librettist), Jozef Mertens (1834-1901, composer).
Published in German as Der Zchwarze Capitan
The German three act musical text by Heinrich Flemmich The full musical work was published in Dutch as De Zwarte Kapitein, with a Dutch libretto by Rosier Faassen (Pieter Jacobus Faassen) and music by Jozef Mertens (W.Carpentier, 's Gravenhage, 1877).

1886: Performed as De Zwarte Kapitein in the Oddfellows Hall, Cape Town, by Aurora II on 10 December, with De Montfordt's (Leonard).
