Lazare le Pâtre ("Lazare the shepherd") is a French drama in four acts, with a prologue, by Joseph Bouchardy (1810–1870)[1]

The original text

First performed in Paris at the Théâtre de l’Ambigu-Comique, 7 November, 1840, published in Magasin Théâtral in 1840.

Translations and adaptations

Translated into Dutch as Lazaro de Veehoeder, of Misdaad en Wraak ("Lazaro the Shepherd, or crime and revenge") by H. Tiggelaar (fl 1840s), published in Amsterdam in 1842. The Dutch title wrongly given by Bosman (1980) as Lazaro de Verhoeder, of Misdaad en Wraak (i.e. "the preventer, or crime and revenge").
