Johann Wilhelm Stassen is a theatre historian.

Also found as J.W. Stassen.

Obtained his doctorate in 1959 from the University of the Orange Free State, with a thesis on the history of Dutch and Afrikaans theatre and drama in South Africa from 1801-1955. (Toneel en kultuur : die ontwikkelingsgeskiedenis van die Hollandse en Afrikaanse toneel en drama in Suid-Afrika, 1801-1955.
