Noem My Skollie ("call me Skollie") is a film directed by Daryne Joshua.

The film

Known as Call me Thief in English, or often found bilingually as Noem My Skollie: Call Me Thief, it is based on the true life story of a young man who becomes a storyteller in jail.

Based on the experiences of John W. Fredericks, the script written by John Fredericks and John W. Fredericks, it was produced by David Max Brown and Moshidi Motshegwa and directed by Daryne Joshua, with Christian Bennett, Dann Jaques Mouton, Tarynn Wyngaard, Sandi Schultz, Gantane Kusch and Austin Rose. The supporting cast included Abdruhgamaan Adams,

Released in August 2016 (South Africa)

Awards

It was the official submission of South Africa for the 'Best Foreign Language Film' category of the 89th Academy Awards in 2017 and won a Golden Horn Award for Best Actor in a Feature Film.
