The novel At være eller ikke være ("to be or not to be") by Andersen was first published on May 20, 1857 as part of the Collected Works of Hans Christian Andersen. – 23rd Volume

Performance history in South Africa
1869: Performed in Dutch as Niet of Graag by Aurora II in Paarl as an afterpiece to H.W. Teengs's locally written Dutch play Willem Nel in July.
