She became a lecturer, later senior lecturer in the faculty of Education at the University of Pretoria, retiring in 2011.

After retirement she has actively pursued a career as creative writer.

She has won a number of the Maskew Miller Longman Literature Awards over the years for her dramatic work, inter alia for Boetie Beter Bester (2008) and BFF in 2014.

In 2012 she won the Afrikaans and IsiNdebele sections of the Youth Drama section of the competition.
