The Society of Amateurs ("Een Societeit van Liehebbers" in the Dutch, i.e. literally: "a society of lovers") was a one-off group of performers, former members of Mr Cuerton's Company, who presented an evening's entertainment in the African Theatre, Cape Town, on 22 July as a benefit for Miss Delamore, whom Mr Cuerton had apparently left penniless in Cape Town when he left.

On the occasion they performed The Mountaineers (Colman) with Fortune's Frolic (Allingham) as an afterpiece. (The plays announced in the Kaapsche Courant in Dutch as De Bergbewoonders and Fortuins Vrolykheid.)
