Vlyt en Kunst
A Private Dutch amateur company with J.J. de Kock as secretary. Existed from 1834 to 1838. It was a continuation of Door Yver bloeit de Kunst. It performed Dutch plays and plays by Molière and Kotzebue; the plays were mostly staged in the Amateur Theatre and occasionally the African Theatre. Boniface also wrote and translated for the company. Performances included: Clasius (Boniface), De Burger Edelman (Molière). During 1838 there formed two opposing groups inside the company (one was under de Kock). Eventually this internal strife caused the break-up of the company at the end of 1838.
