The lists
In this section we have list radio plays and serials written by South Africans or recorded with South African voice artists in South Africa. These lists are all arranged alphabetically according to the title of the drama/serial.
Notes for using this section
(1) Use of articles: In accordance with normal bibliographic usage, in cases where the titles of plays and performances contain one of the initial articles A, An or The, the items are listed alphabetically according to the word following that initial article. (In the case of Afrikaans the articles are 'n or Die, and in the case of Dutch Een, Di, Die, Den or Het.) The article is then put at the end of the title. To illustrate: "The Guest by Ross Devenish " is listed as "Guest, The by Ross Devenish " under #G. Please note that radio dramas with titles starting with a numeral or date are placed in a separate listing marked #Numbers or dates.
(2) Capitalization of titles: Since this encyclopaedia is written in English and the convention in English is to capitalize all nouns and verbs in the title of a publication or play, the same usage is extended here to titles in other languages, where the conventions may be different. The case of Afrikaans titles is particularly important here, since only the first word in an Afrikaans title is normally capitalized, the rest being written in lower case (though this is not consistently done in the case of film or TV titles). So the play Ballade vir 'n enkeling will appear here as Ballade vir 'n Enkeling, Agter elke man will be written Agter Elke Man, and so on.
