The original text
A short one-man improvisation piece with no dialogue, about a tramp rooting through rubbish and finding a drumstick, then a second. With these he starts playing a rhythm on an upturned tin can, rising above the ruckus of the city. A work originally commissioned for the Kentucky Festival of New American Plays and performed by Dierk Toporzysek in 1980.
A version of the text was published in My Children! My Africa! and Selected Short Plays by Wits University Press in 199*.
