Summertime
Summertime is an Italian play in three acts by Ugo Betti (1892-1953), originally entitled in Italian Il paese delle vacanze ("vacation land"), written in 1937. It was part of a trilogy of satirical plays, which also included Una bella domenica di settembre (1935, "A Beautiful Sunday in September") and I nostri sogni (1936, "Our People's Dreams").

The Afrikaans translation by Alewyn Lee was produced as Skrikkeljaar in 1958 by NTO. Performers: Berdine Grünewald, Eghard van der Hoven, Gerrit Wessels, Mathilde Hanekom, Sann de Lange, Reenen van Niekerk, Salie Vermaak, Louisa Aucamp. Directed by Robert Mohr, costumes by Doreen Graves and décor by Frank Graves.
