(19**-) Actor for stage, television and film, director, scriptwriter and lecturer. (Also known as Abduraghmaan Adams.)


Biography

Born and raised in Cape Town.


Training

First trained and worked as a nurse, before studying for a B.Dram degree at the at the Drama Department, University of Stellenbosch,


Career

He has alternated between periods as a freelance actor/director and periods as a lecturer at the University of Stellenbosch.


As teacher

Became a lecturer in the Drama Department at Stellenbosch in 199*. He left teaching to follow a free-lance career in 2003, but returned to University teaching at Stellenbosch in 2010, once more quitting in 2013.

As director

Directing projects include Skrêmbuild Eggs vir Nasiebrou [lit something like "Scrambled eggs for nation cooking"),a satirical prose and verse voice programme utilizing Afrikaans writing in all the dialects and forms available. A commissioned work for the Kleinkaroo Nasionale Kunstefees (KKNK)at Oudtshoorn 1999 and 2000.

On stage:

Among his most notable performances have been the lead in Brecht's Baal in the Brecht Centenary year for the University of Stellenbosch, a version of Report to an Academy (**) Grahamstown Festival 1999?), Roadkill/Padkos (Malan Steyn) and Rooikôppetjie **?? (Spier, 2001), Naelstring / Honour thy mother, Fuck thy Father (Pieter Fourie, KKNK Oudtshoorn/ Grahamstown Festival, 2001), Bok-bok staan styf (Malan Steyn, KKNK, 2002), *** Amadeus (Baxter, 2006), Gideon van Eeden’s Boetman is Bedônit (KKNK and Aardklop, 2007) **, Let's Mix It (2008-9) .

On television:

Roles in ** , Fishy Feshuns, **, **** (2005), one episode of Boland Moorde(KykNet,2013).

On film:

Four Corners (2013)

Co-wrote Let's Mix It (2008-9) with Gary Naidoo.
