Der Prozess ("The Trial") is a novel written by German-language writer Franz Kafka (1883-1924) [1]. Kafka wrote the novel from 1914 to 1915 and it was first published in 1925.

One of Kafka's best-known works, The Trial tells the story of a man arrested and prosecuted by a remote, inaccessible authority, with the nature of his crime revealed neither to him nor to the reader. (Wikipedia [2])

The novel has been translated into many languages and has been adapted for the radio, stage and film many times.
Performance history in South Africa
1960: The Trial, an adaptation in English, was staged at the Little Theatre in Cape Town, directed by Fred Engelen.
