Whose Life is it Anyway?
A play by British playwright Brian Clark (born 1932). Originally written for television, the stage version was premièred in 1978 at the Mermaid Theatre in London starring Tom Conti as Ken. In 1981 an adaptation by Brian Clark and Reginald Rose was directed by John Badham and stars Richard Dreyfuss.
Clark presents arguments both in favour of and opposing euthanasia and to what extent government should be allowed to interfere in the life of a private citizen.
Performance history in South Africa
Presented by the Baxter Theatre in the early 1990s, after the author finally gave his permission for its performance in South Africa. Direction was by Keith Grenville, set and lighting design by Brian Collins. Members of the cast were Sean Taylor, Joy Stewart Spence, Michelle Fine, Basil Appollis, Bo Petersen, Ronald France, Denise Newman, Gys de Villiers, Joey Wishnia, John Springett, Michael Drin, Lulu Burger.
