Een Bruid in de Morgen, by Hugo Claus.

'n Bruid in die Môre ("A Bride in the Morning") by Hugo Claus. A hugely successful first play by the premier Flemish playwright of the late 20th century. Translated into Afrikaans by Jan Rabie and produced by NTO in its NTO Kamertoneel in 1959, directed by Tone Brulin. The cast were: Pieter Geldenhuys, Wilma Stockenström, Laurika Meerkotter, Joan Brink and Dale Swanepoel. A subsequent NTO production in Bellville was directed by Pietro Nolte, with Wilma Stockenström, Pieter Bredenkamp, Chris Fourie, Joey de Koker and Tossie Lochner.

Presented by Universiteitsteater Stellenbosch in 1963, directed by Fred Engelen, starring Elise Ziervogel, Fred Engelen. Annatjie Vorster, Franz Marx, Cynthia Dekker. Lighting by Jo Gevers, décor Cynthia Dekker, stage manager Carmen Haddad. A subsequent production by Universiteitsteater Stellenbosch in September 1984 was directed by Noël Roos, with Christo Crous, Ronel Richter, Jozua van der Lugt, Wanda van Zyl and Rouxnette du Preez.

In 1997 Claus visited South Africa, at the invitation of the University of Stellenbosch and the Flemish Festival – on which occasion the Drama Department at Stellenbosch produced the play with students, directed by Johan Esterhuizen. The cast were Gaerin hauptfleisch, Lorraine Burger, Paul van Wyk, Marliza Eloff, Derelyn Robb.
