AFDA
AFDA (the South African School of Motion Picture Medium and Live Performance) was founded in 1994 by Garth Holmes, Bata Passchier and Deon Opperman. From its early beginnings of 6 students, a rented VCR and broken TV it has become one of the leading institutions of its kind in the world today. AFDA has over 1200 students, over 100 full-time staff and fully equipped campus and facilities, with branches in Cape Town, Johannesburg and . Ity has had an enormous impact on fil making in South Africa over the past 20 years.
It holds an annual Film and TV Showcase (see further http://afdafestival.com/ )
