Edmund Kean
The play Edmund Kean by Raymund Fitzsimons is based on the life of the early 19th century actor Edmund Kean. It is about the mystery of talent and its sometimes flawed human embodiment. First performed in 1983 in London, with British actor Ben Kingsley in the role of Kean. Published by Hamilton, 1976.
Performance history in South Africa
In South Africa it was produced by Pieter Toerien by arrangement with Duncan C. Weldon, directed by Rex Garner, starring Michael Richard. Designed by Jannie Swanepoel. First performance in the Leonard Rayne Theatre 12 June 1985. The production then moved to the Baxter Theatre.
