Riana Steyn
(19*-) Anthropologist and lecturer, playwright. Born in Windburg in the Orange Free State and grew up on a farm near Dewetsdorp. She lectured Anthroplogy and Archaeology at the University of South Africa [1] for 15 years, as well as at the University of of Johannesburg [2] and from 2013 at the University of the Free State[3]. In 2009 she completed a master's thesis called: Childhood: An Anthropological Study of Itinerancy and Domestic Fluidity Amongst the Karretjie People of the South African Karoo through UNISA [4]. This thesis was read by Athol Fugard and the research became the basis of his collaborative play with Steyn, called Die Laaste Karretjiegraf (2013)
