The festival

Initiated by mehlo-maya (eye-to-the-sun) and The Market Theatre and curated by Bobby Rodwell and Lesego Rampolokeng in 2024, it ran at the The Market Theatre from 14 to 17 November.

The objective of the four-day cross-border festival was to invite artists from SADC countries to share creative projects and ideas, network, and strengthen ties between the countries while giving audiences an opportunity to immerse themselves in the stories of our region. Seven southern African countries were represented through the events in the festival.

The event's programme encompassed theatre, music, workshops, film screenings and talks, including:

  • Molly Street (a Zimbabwean play written and directed by Peter Churu),
