Women Behind Bars
Women Behind Bars was written by American playwright, lyricist, television writer and theatre director Tom Eyen [1] (1940-1991), a campy-disturbing send-up of women's prison exploitation movies.

The original production at the off-Broadway Astor Place Theatre opened on May 1, 1975 with a cast headed by Pat Ast, Helen Hanft, Mary-Jennifer Mitchell and Sharon Barr.
Performance history in South Africa
1984: Directed by Chris Weare for CAPAB in July 1984 starring Merle Lifson, Victoria Bawcombe, Lynita Crofford, Libby Daniels, Margaretha Fischer, Terry Greyvenstein, Rayne Hindle, Susan Pam, Clare Dembovsky. Lighting by Nicholas Tilney, design by Jenny Gillis.
1993: Performed in the H.B. Thom Theatre, 12-15 May 1993. Directed by Johan Esterhuizen, starring Ira Blanckenberg, Launa Kotzé, Judy-Ann Deacon, Nadia Jacobs, Franci Swanepoel, Marleen Snyman, Suzanne Smith, Marianne Stander, Lisl Wolmarans, Christine Truter, Leon Swanepoel.
