Vuka is a play based on a long poem by Matsemela Manaka (1955-1998).

Performance history in South Africa

1982: First performed in South Africa and at the Edinburgh Festival starring John Ledwaba and Fats Bookholane.

1986: A revised, expanded version performed in 1986 by Ali Khangela Hlongwane, Job Kubatse and Danny Moitse, directed by Manaka, at the Market Theatre and Downstairs at the Wits Theatre from 12 March to 22 March. It was presented by the Soyikwa Players.

1986: Presented at Dramfes '86.
