The original text
Considered one of the best Restoration comedies, the play revolves around the two lovers Mirabell and Millamant and the latter's dowry.
The play had its premiere in March 1700 in Lincoln's Inn Fields in London.

May 26-30, 1970: Presented by CAPAB to celebrate the 150th anniversary of the arrival of the 1820 Settlers, directed by Leslie French, with Arthur Hall as Fainall, Bernard Brown as Mirabell, Joyce Bradley, Leslie French as Witwoud, Pietro Nolte as Petulant, Elliott Playfair as Sir Wilfull Witwout, John Mitchell as Waitwell, Jeanne Wennberg as Mrs Marwood, Val Fletcher as Mrs Fainall, Cathy Hanson as Foible, Brigid Reynolds as Mincing, Cathy Wolhurter as Betty, Maryke Herman as Peg, Jimmy Kennedy, Alan Hope, and Brian KennedY as coachmen and footmen, Jennifer Craig and Lyn Hooker as Mrs Millamant in the cast, 1970.
