Hugh C. Buckler
Hugh C. Buckler (1881-1936)[[1]] is the name of a British actor.
Biography
A performer is mentioned under this name by D.C. Boonzaier (1923) as a promising young actor who visited Cape Town in 1904 as a member of the Frawley Company, inter alia playing "De Neipperg" in Madame Sans-Gêne (Sardou and Moreau) and (as Hugh Buckler) in The Darling of the Gods ().
Though Boonzaier says he lost track of Buckler after the Cape visit, this is most probably a reference to the stage and film actor Hugh Buckler (1881-1936)[2], born on 9 September 1881 in Southampton, Hampshire, UK, who went on to make a number of films He died on 30 October 1936 in a motor accident, with his actor son John, in Malibu, California, U.S.
