Performance history in South Africa
1895: Performed by Edward Sass and his Gaiety Company in the Cape Town Opera House, under the auspices of the Wheeler Brothers, as part of a season of plays that opened on 1 June till late July.
The company
The Masqueraders was a small musical ensemble (active circa 1918-1921), that at one time played the Standard Theatre in Johannesburg for some weeks and then toured the country. Members over the years included Billy Matthews, Bertie Solomon
