H. Henderson

Captain H. Henderson was a member of the North Lincolnshire Regiment of Foot and served in Grahamstown and Keiskama Hoek between 1860 and 1862 during the Frontier War.

Captain H. Henderson acted in four productions by the Officers of the Regiment.

Biography

He was one of the Officers of the Regiment who produced shows for the entertainment of the troops and nearby civilians.

Contribution to SA theatre, film, media and/or performance

October 8, 1860: The Camp at Chobham at Garrison Theatre in Grahamstown. Henderson painted special backdrops for the play from an original sketch, "Sunset on the Chenaub River near Wuzeerabad, Punjaub, India" and "The Marine Parade".

April 5, 11 & 19, 1861: Acted the role of Major Pepper in Don't Judge By Appearances.

September 9 & 12, 1861: Acted the role of Mr Fitzroy Plantagenet in Only a Halfpenny.

December 28 & 30, 1861: Acted the role of Baron de Ville Blanche, a courtier, in A Lucky Hit which was repeated January 20, 1862.
