Danceplay (also found as documentary danceplay is a rather playful term coined and used by director and choreographer Gary Gordon to describe his specific form of Physical Theatre, arising from his collaborations with writers, performers, musicians and so on.

According to Juanita Praeg (correspondence with ESAT, 2 July, 2018), the term was first employed (as documentary danceplay) to describe the physical theatre aesthetic of the production The Unspeakable Story.
