First performed in London and Boston in 1837. Published in New York by Samuel French, [1856?]

Performance history in South Africa

1876: Performed in the Athenaeum Theatre, Cape Town, by Disney Roebuck's company on 2 May ("last time"), as an afterpiece to Blow for Blow (Byron). (Bosman, 1980, says the author of the farce is "unknown".)
